The life and professional paths of doctor Bernard Sonnenschein-Światłowski (1898-1941) from Lvov, including the military service in the Austrian Army and the Polish Army were presented at the beginning. He was a efficient versatile specialist in otorhinolaryngology.
He dealt with, among others: otogenic palsy of the eye abduction nerve, syphilis and tuberculosis of the upper respiratory tract, removal of foreign bodies from the nose, larynx and esophagus, inflammation of the pharynx and larynx and their complications, the issue of decannulation after tracheotomy, local anaesthetization in otorhinolaryngology, equipment improvement, etc. He was broadly interested in the problem of certification in otorhinolaryngology.
