The reminiscences of Hilary Schramm (1857–1940), Lvov surgeon from the Viennese university surgical clinic headed by Christian Albert Theodor Billroth (1829–1894) and the surgical clinic of the Jagiellonian University headed by Jan Mikulicz-Radecki (1850–1905) were presented. The achievements of these outstanding surgeons are also briefly presented, also in the field of ENT, with particular emphasis on their personality traits.
